With our
you get pure drinking water from almost any freshwater source (e.g. a puddle) thanks to the 4-fold combined effect of silver ions, ceramics, activated carbon and reduction media.
The 1st stage gives the filter strong bacteriostatic and self-sterilising properties due to the ceramic impregnated with silver ions. These silver ions are toxic to bacteria and prevent mould and algae from forming on the surface of the filter, thus maintaining the cleanliness of the filter surface. (The silver used in ceramics is in particulate form, much larger than nanoscale. Because the silver particles are incorporated into the ceramic before firing, they are held firmly in place in the finished product. The silver does not leach into the filtered water; this has been proven by leachate tests conducted on our DOME-FILTER® as part of our NSF certification.)
In the 2nd stage, the water flows through the millions of pores in the housing of the ceramic filter. These pores, which are 0.5 - 0.8 microns in size, trap impurities as the water flows through them. The inside of the ceramic is an intricate maze of sharp angles designed to catch any particles that have entered the outer surface. This filtration system mimics part of the earth's natural water purification process. Just as water percolates down through layers of rock on its way, the water in a ceramic filter passes through natural media to rid itself of impurities.
The 3rd stage with its activated carbon core made from coconut shells serves to increase the adsorption capacity of the filter.
Toxic lead is filtered out in the 4th stage by heavy metal reduction media.
Just as rainwater seeps into the ground and sometimes runs for decades through the different layers of rock that purify it and enrich it with minerals and trace elements, the DOME-FILTER® also needs sufficient time to transform your water into pure, structured water (up to 1.2 l per hour according to the manufacturer's specifications).
What can the DOME filter® out?
About the sensational effectiveness regarding the filtration of hormones, pesticides, drug residues, PCB's and much more please have a look at our test reports of the QUALITY FILTER TESTING LABORATORY, LLC (under the "Tests" tab).
Chlorine is used in the municipal cleaning process, leaves a bitter and chemical taste and an unpleasant odour. The activated carbon reduces both chlorine and chloramines.
Particles such as dirt, deposits and rust are effectively filtered out by the porous surface of the ceramic filter.
Volatile organic compounds include a wide range of chemical contaminants that enter the water via agricultural wastewater to paints and pesticides. The content of so-called VOCs is considerably reduced by the activated carbon.
Turbidity is caused by suspended particles. These colour your water in unappetising shades of yellow and brown. The DOME-FILTER® removes the turbidity and makes the water crystal clear again.
Only a few bacteria are smaller than one micron. Since they cannot pass through the pores, the bacteria are filtered out as the water seeps through the ceramic filter. The DOME-FILTER® rids the water of pathogenic bacteria, such as cholera.
Confirmation and scientific recognition of the exceptional performance of the high performance DOME-FILTER® officially confirmed by international test seals from the renowned laboratories NSF International and WRAS Water Regulations Advisory Scheme Limited. They meet the highest standards for drinking water filters and the strict BS EN ISO 9002: 1994 quality Standards.
You can be sure that you are getting the highest quality ceramic filter available on the market today.
compatible with tanks that have a minimum height of 14 cm
(e.g. our 3000 series)
Notes on authentication and registration
Only with the 10-digit authenticity code on your DOME-FILTER® can you be sure that you have purchased a genuine YVE-BIO® product, manufactured in the UK to the highest EU quality standards. This authenticity and registration (printed on the base of the DOME-FILTER®) protects you from counterfeit products.
Why did I receive two additional sealing rings with my DOME-FILTER®?
As the glass tanks are handmade, it is possible that the glass thickness varies. This is not a defect but a proof of handmade quality goods. For you, however, it may mean that you cannot use the original sealing rings. In this case, we have included the universal sealing rings in the package so that you do not have to worry about replacement seals, but can assemble your drinking water filter immediately.
Why does my DOME-FILTER® take longer to filter than conventional water filters?
It is precisely this slowness that is the decisive factor for pure water. During this time, the water has the necessary rest to clean itself (rainwater sometimes needs decades to clean itself in the different rock layers). In waterworks or conventional cartridges, the water is forced through and thus not only loses its structure but also forms channels. The water can then run through these channels unfiltered, without the pollutants having a chance to adhere to the activated carbon. This does not happen with our DOME-FILTER®. That is why it still achieves the best results even after more than 1500 litres have passed through it and returns the water to its hexagonal and thus cell-available structure.
Which cartridge can be combined with the DOME-FILTER®?
Since the DOME-FILTER® already contains activated carbon, we recommend our 3-step cartridge Energy-Vitality. The mix of different minerals energises your water so that life processes can run better.
How long is the service life of the DOME-FILTER®?
Our recommended capacity is 1500 litres (is reached after about 6 months). This capacity is based on the assumption that the water to be filtered has a chlorine concentration of 2mg/l; if the chlorine concentration is lower, the capacity is naturally higher. The other media used to remove impurities (e.g. to reduce lead, etc.) are adjusted to a similar capacity of 1500 litres.
So the actual capacity of a filter depends on the concentration of impurities in the water to be filtered, and how much water flows through the filter determines how long the filter element will last. In reality, every situation is different, so it is safest to say that the DOME-FILTER® has a capacity of 1500 litres, although the capacity may well be higher.
What shall I do if I do not use my DOME-FILTER® for more than a week?
Let the DOME-FILTER® dry thoroughly in a warm, dry place (the activated carbon inside needs more time for this than the ceramic outside, of course) and then store it in a cool, dark place - away from chemicals or strong odours. When you put it back into operation, it is advisable to dispose of the first tank filling. Now your DOME-FILTER® is ready for use again.
Why is my DOME-FILTER® discoloured?
This is great news - your DOME-FILTER® is working! All that discolouration has been trapped on the filter's surface and is safely removed from your drinking water.
Is the DOME-FILTER® BPA-free?
Yes, all the plastic is BPA-free and made of food-grade polypropylene (PP).
