Our water filters prefer a shady place, where it is neither too hot nor too cold. Most customers have their filter in the kitchen or office.
Does the water filter have to be in a dark place?
No, not necessarily.
However, it should never be exposed to direct sunlight or sun reflections, as algae can form.
What can I do if I do not have a dark place in my kitchen?
Cover your filter with an opaque cloth.
A limescale filter pad is placed in the cartridge suspension ring, practically at the top in the bulge. Here two photos for better understanding:
Yes, you can scrub it under running water with a scouring pad with a strong foam pad until it turns white again.
Be careful not to press too hard, as the filter is sensitive and you will damage the ceramic layer!
If the ceramic filter is already damaged, replace it if possible.
Yes, but only with a vinegar essence from a water/vinegar mixture in a ratio of 9:1 (i.e. 900 ml water and 100 ml vinegar). Citric acid (available here from us) has a more neutral taste and can also be used in the same mixing ratio.
The ceramic filter every 2 years ,
The cartridge every 6 months or after 1500 litres of flow
The mineral ring after 2 years,
The alkaline ring after 6 months (discontinued model, no longer in our range)
The organic ring after 2 yearsThe Em-Pipes (grey) after 2 years
The EM-Pipes (pink) after one year.
You can also read the changeover times here or print this information:
The capacity of the cartridge to bind pollutants is reached after about 1500 litres of water. A 2-person household uses this amount of water approximately within half a year. Changing the cartridge after this period is recommended by the German DIN regulation.
No, and that would not be sensible either, because the cartridges now contain harmful substances. These belong in the household waste and then in a waste incineration plant.
It is very robust and lasts very long. We have had our first tap in daily use for over six years now. And it still works perfectly.
But there are a few rules to be observed for correct use:
To draw a larger volume of water, lift the faucet tilt lever, but not past the 45-degree angle. It will engage automatically as soon as you lift it into the horizontal position.
The tap may only be cleaned with clean, sterile cloths, made of paper or fabric, to avoid contamination with germs.
If you do not use the YVE-BIO filter for longer than 6 days, you should proceed as follows:
Remove and rinse the ceramic filter, the filter cartridge and the
Mineral ring. Then drain and dry everything.Rinse the two water containers of the YVE-BIO filter with a mixture of water and vinegar essence, or with a solution of food-grade citric acid (also available from us).
Then let them dry as well.If you want to use the water filter again, put the
water filter system again and use it as usual.
The tritan bottles are made of the copolyester Tritan™. This plastic (triphenylmethane) is tasteless and odourless.
The tritan bottles are made for non-carbonated drinks. The bottles remain stable up to an internal pressure of max. 2 bar.
The lifetime of the bottles depends on the type of use and how the bottles are cleaned. Empty and clean the bottles after use and protect them from direct sunlight during storage.
The bottles can be cleaned approx. 80 times in normal household dishwashers (depending on the rinse cycle and detergent used).
However, it is recommended to clean the tritan bottles by hand, as this leads to a longer shelf life. Check the condition of the bottles regularly. If there are visible cracks or fogging, the bottle should be replaced.
About 30 minutes.
Depending on the capacity of the upper container, a filtration process takes between two and three hours. It also depends on how dirty your ceramic filter is.
The results can be found on our pages under Information.
Our new YVE-BIO® 5-step Origin Ultimate Hexagonal cartridges with activated carbon and the active ingredient mineral clinoptilolite are able to adsorb radioactive contamination in water.
High quality activated carbon with an iodine value of 1200 (= highest absorption value) binds and removes various pollutants: nitrates, coarse drug residues, chlorine, heavy metals, among others.
The clinoptilolite binds possible pollutants that may be present in the water. The micronisation, the reduction of particles by grinding, increases the binding capacity. This results in a considerable reduction of the heavy metal load in the water - up to 90% for mercury, cadmium and lead.
Recently there have been several requests for the removal of microplastics and nanoparticles from drinking water through our water filters. The current status is as follows:
Microplastics is a broad term. No literature source defines it with regard to its particle size. However, since it can be assumed that microplastics, due to its origin and method of formation
is clearly a (geometrically measurable) particle, the particle retention limits of the ceramic filter of 0.2 micrometers specified by us apply. According to our research, the smallest particles resulting from abrasion are likely to be in the range of finest sand (approx. 2 to 10 micrometers). Below this range, the particle mass is missing in order to be further reduced by mutual abrasion. The situation is different with specially produced nano-particles (for example in toothpaste or sun cream). These particles are located in a range that is also below the particle retention limit of the ceramic filter. All in all:
- retention depends on the particle size. This must be determined or measured in each specific case.
- Our ceramic filter retains particles in accordance with the particle retention limits mentioned above and is also bacteria-retentive.
- A residue always remains - 100% retention is not possible.
Yes, the combination of activated carbon and zeolite removes cadmium from the water.
Fluoride is hardly ever filtered out, but is not added to German drinking water at all. The indicator value is 1.5 mg/l, in our tests the value did not change and remained at 0.5 mg/l
Our activated carbon has been proven to filter out various pesticides and coarse materials.
Due to the similarity of the materials, the probability of glyphosate being retained is very high.
A concrete test is still pending.
PFC residues per- and polyfluorinated chemicals/ PFAS (per- and polyfluorinated alkyl substances) or PFT (perfluorinated tensides) residues are always filtered by activated carbon.
However, we have not carried out any tests on this group of substances.
Our filters reduce natural aluminium by the heavy metal binding properties of activated carbon and zeolite.
Chloride is a negatively charged ion.
Chloride and the ion sodium play an important role in the distribution of water inside and outside the cells.
Chloride and sodium also have many other functions in the body:
For example, other ions are transported out of or into the cells by means of sodium or chloride.
More than half (about 56%) of the chloride in the body is outside the cells, about a third (32%) in the bones and the rest (12%) inside the cells.Chlorine is a chemical element with the symbol Cl and atomic number17.
In nature, chlorine is not found in elemental form, but only bound in various compounds. The most important compounds are the chlorides, in which chlorine occurs in the form of the anion Cl-.
The best known chloride is sodium chloride, often also called common salt or salt for short. Chloride is a common component of seawater and has important biological functions, especially in controlling the water balance in the body.
Our filter cartridge filters out up to 50%, see test results (only german version):
Since there are no scientifically proven research results on the so-called PI water technology, this topic is not of interest to us. Information from other manufacturers should prove this.
We have compiled an overview for you under the following link:
Time writes: "Nitrate, lead, legionella - the desire to drink water from the tap fades. A lot of scare tactics? Yes, because German Kranwasser is first class and above all: healthy." Jürgen Steinert from Öko-Test also explains: "Tap water is the best controlled foodstuff in Germany. This is ensured by our Drinking Water Ordinance. It ensures that our drinking water does not exceed any pollution limits. T-online.de claims: Tap water can be drunk without hesitation. "As the Federal Ministry of Health informs, a large-scale inspection revealed that over 99 percent of the random samples complied with the requirements of the Drinking Water Ordinance. And even slight transgressions of the limits do not necessarily mean that your health is endangered."
We have collected the relevant information for you.
Please simply click on the following link (only german version):
Standing water above: Water that does not completely pass through the ceramic filter is not a defect, because only the ceramic filter makes the water germ-free.
If you use the filter every day, by taking out filtered water and adding fresh water, the water in the lower container is swirled and mixed. This also applies to the water below the tap! So you will always have fresh filtered water at your disposal.
Please follow the instructions for cleaning the lower tank - only every 6 months - to avoid self-contamination!
Also remember to dry the filter appropriately if you do not use it for 6 days or longer.
If you follow the hygiene instructions for filter assembly and only assemble the filter with clean hands, no germs can occur inside the filter.
And because the ceramic filter of the YVE-BIO filter has a passage of only 0.2 µm, it is impermeable to germs and bacteria.
The excellent performance of the ceramic filter was confirmed by the accredited institute, AIT Austrian Institute of Technology GmbH, in August 2014 in Tulln.
''The effectiveness of the ceramic filter in terms of impermeability to germs and bacteria has been clearly proven.
The germs (CFB's), coliform bacteria, Escherichia coli and Enterococci present in the raw water were removed to 100% or are no longer detectable in the filtered water. In summary, however, it can be said about the tests carried out that the YVE-3000 filter provides an excellent microbiological performance, binds heavy metals and brings the drinking water into a basic range''.AIT Austrian Institute of Technology GmbH
Gravitational filters, i.e. filters that work with gravity/attraction, do not need electricity.
Only the YVE-BIO®-Alstar700 works with an additional 12 volts of electricity to start the vortex/twister. By swirling the water, the original, natural hexagonal structure of the water is restored.
The "normal" units - except the Alstar 700 - have a normal basic PH value.
The Alstar 700 has a twister grain, which brings the water to a higher pH value (up to 9 Ph).
We would like to point out that the twister basket should be changed about every 3 months.
The pollutant filtration is the same for all products.
They make hexagonal water. With the magnets the water runs out clockwise, it is slightly swirled which is said to have a positive health effect.
In this case our YVE-BIO®-Alstar 700 produces the hexagonal structure even more intensively.
FIR means infrared rays - from the English as infrared rays.
The FIR stone has minerals in it that diffuse the FIR rays onto the water, making the clusters of the water smaller. The smaller the water clusters, the easier the water is absorbed by the cells.
Since it is not yet clear whether silver is anti-bacterial and antioxidant, or a toxic heavy metal, we have not used it for the production of our filters since 2013.
Basically, when you buy a YV-BIO filter, you receive a mineral ring.
There are different rings, stones and pipes because they all have different effects.
To increase the mineral content of the water, for example, you can add stones to the filter.
If you want to have effective microorganisms in the water you can use the bioring.
The grey EM-Pipes give the water antioxidants.
While the pink EM-Pipes bind more pollutants to themselves.
And water stones are used to energize the water.
All plastic elements of the YVE-BIO® filters that come into contact with water are made of ABS acrylonitrile-butadiene-styrene copolymer.
ABS consists of a framework phase of styrene-acrylonitrile copolymer (SAN), in which an elastic phase of homo- or copolymers of butadiene is dispersed. The cohesive SAN matrix provides strength and hardness. The rubber phase embedded in it is capable of absorbing impact energy, thus increasing the impact strength.
The use of ABS in the food sector is physiologically safe and complies with FDA and EU food regulations.
These tests are published on our website.
That many components between EVA and YVE are compatible may be possible. But we really do not know for sure. According to our experience so far the parts summarize as follows:
The YVE-BIO®-Single-500 glass container fits for the EVA700 and the glasses from the YVE-BIO®-3000 Premium fit for the EVA1200.
Please note that you will also need a matching ferrule so that the glasses fit together.
If you want to use our cartridges, you will still need a cartridge suspension ring, as we use a different thread.
The limescale filter pads only fit if you use such a suspension ring.
All other parts, like ceramic filter, FIR, pipes etc. are so compatible.

This only happens if you have screwed the ceramic filter too tightly.
In the worst case, not only will cracks appear in the glass, but the water can also enter the lower tank unfiltered, as the silicone rings are squeezed so that water can pass through.
Please keep this in mind for the future. Of course, this also applies to the silicone rings on the tap.
First you have to find out if water is dripping out of the tap or between the silicone gaskets and the glass? If it drips between the seal and the glass.Empty the water container and unscrew the tap. All parts must be dry again before screwing them together again.
Glass, seals and tap.
Now screw everything together, not too tight otherwise the glass will not crack too loosely.
If the two silicone seals still let water through, repeat the procedure.
If it drips from the tap.
Sometimes there can be small grains of dust or mineral dust from the cartridge or the mineral ring in the tap.
Unscrew the tap from the glass container.
Lift the silver rocker arm until it clicks into place in the horizontal position.
Turn the upper part of the tap counterclockwise, carefully upwards, until the lower part of the tap is separated from the upper one.
Now rinse both parts thoroughly.
Rinse the cartridge and the mineral ring again. Then screw the two parts of the tap together again carefully.
Now the tap should not drip any more.
This can have two causes:
Either your ceramic filter is dirty or the unit has created a vacuum.
If the ceramic filter is dirty, clean it with a pot cleaner (made of foam with strong abrasive fleece) under running water until it is white again.
Do not exert too much pressure when cleaning, as the ceramic wall is only 1 cm thick. It can break. You should replace the ceramic filter after two years.
If your filter has created a vacuum, lift up the intermediate ring and clean it and the glass edge with a clean (dry!) cloth.
Condensation / air humidity can create a vacuum in rare cases.
The discolouration is not damage, but something that has been filtered from water or air.
They are "pollutants" that you would otherwise have drunk with. You can easily scrub the ceramic filter under running water with a hard sponge.
Green discolouration in the filter indicates that algae have developed.
Algae need sunlight for their growth.
We have particularly pointed out in the operating, assembly and maintenance instructions that the water filter must not be exposed to direct sunlight under any circumstances - and to no sun reflection (e.g. reflection by window panes), as algae can otherwise form.
If this has happened, you can clean all parts of the filter that show a green discolouration with a salt water solution (approx. 1 SL salt for 1 litre of water). The mineral basket / ring, the stones and crystals, can also be swung out or cleaned in this salt water solution.
Unfortunately this is not possible with the cartridge.
Algae are not necessarily harmful. However, if the taste of the water should change, you may need to replace the cartridge.
For the future, we recommend placing the water filter in a darker location. If this is not possible, you can cover the filter with a cloth, for example.
First of all we can reassure you, because the water is still harmless.
Apparently there are still residues in the filter, which are gradually released and thus make the water appear cloudy.
In DIN EN 27027 it says:
"Turbidity is defined as a reduction in the transparency of a liquid caused by the presence of undissolved substances.
The undissolved substances scatter incident light and the liquid loses its transparency. It appears milky or cloudy.
Of course, no one likes to drink cloudy water, so we recommend a run with cold water.
In other words, the way you did it the first time you got the filter.
You will probably already see how the substances are "washed out".
Our limescale filter pads verifiably remove limescale from tap water and make it softer in taste.
It should also be mentioned that there are no limescale filters in this sense. There are dirt filters for solids, but the lime in the water is not a solid but dissolved ions. These go through every sieve.
If you choose an undercounter filter, our Aqua Avanti filters offer a very high limescale-reducing conversion of the water through ion exchangers. The catalyzer granulate that flows through works according to the seed crystal principle. Precipitated lime is bound to the seed crystals and floats away in the water. The lime is therefore still present, but no longer adheres to glasses, pots, kettles, etc.
Through the chemical reaction of magnesium oxide from the alkaline filter stage and water, the water can become white, flakes. This is completely harmless to health.
However, if you want your water to be clear, you should let an upper tank of 3 litres of water, plus 2 tablespoons of citric acid, pass through the cartridge. Citric acid is available at the pharmacy, the drugstore or from us.
Then, to neutralize the taste, run clear water through the cartridge 1-2 more times.
The "crystals" are silicon. This takes over the function of the course of the stream, as in nature, because through this the water gets back its natural structure, as well as its natural taste. You can continue to drink the water without any danger, because the colloidal traces are not harmful, but even valuable for our physical mineral balance (e.g. for bone formation).
Taste is always subjective, so this is not a deficiency!
Often people who have not used filtered water before or have enriched it with stones feel that water tastes extremely stony / metallic. What you taste are the minerals (salts).
In order to remedy this, it can be helpful to rinse the stones/ the mineral ring once again and put them into the filtered water.
If you still don't like the taste, remove the stones/ring and simply use your water filter without these accessories.
Taste is subjective and there is no lack of it!
For the production of the filters we use harmless ABS (more information HERE).
For hygienic reasons, we expressly point out that the parts should be rinsed before use - with clean, disinfected hands - and only then put together.
It is also essential to pass several litres of water through the filter as indicated in the instructions.
If the taste still seems "artificial" to you, continue to run water and/or rinse the plastic parts, e.g. with a mixture of citric acid.
We do not know how you measured the water and with which test device.
An institute commissioned by us has looked into the question why the same water has different PH values.
Director Plank of the AIT in Austria said that it is because of the devices and the test strips that the results vary.
This institute states that to avoid false results, they only had to use very high quality and expensive equipment.
In the link the filter performance (only german version):
The PPM value in our filters says nothing about the contamination and cleaning.
Because in our filters nitrates, heavy metals, germs, bacteria and coarse-material medicines are bound and filtered out in the cartridge and the ceramic filter.
The PPM value says something about the mineral content in the outgoing water.
See our latest test:
Osmose filters filter everything out, so that the PPM value is then at zero.
Osmosis filters produce soft water with a hardness of zero, since reverse osmosis removes all calcium and magnesium ions.
Osmosis water is completely free of minerals. It therefore does not dissolve any waste products from the human body, but mainly minerals.
However, minerals are essential for the human body and almost all people suffer from a chronic mineral deficiency due to insufficient nutrition.
The claims about the influence of conductivity on the osmotic gradient cannot be physically proven at present.
In high quantities (from around 17 litres), osmotic water has a toxic effect on the human body. At this quantity, so much sodium is flushed out of the body that an acute threat to life is given.
What leads to massive health problems in high quantities can have no health-promoting effect even in small doses. In addition, the consumption of acid - and this is osmosis water, because pH remains pH - is certainly not beneficial to the human body.
We depend on a sufficient supply of mineralised water to maintain our acid-base balance in the body and to buffer acids effectively. This is the only way to prevent the body from over-acidification.
The supply of 2 litres of acid per day has the opposite effect. And with already small amounts of minerals, a washout in the long run is in any case to be classified as precarious.
Moreover, osmosis water is not a natural product, but a technical product. However, our body is adapted to the consumption of naturally occurring water - otherwise we could not have survived for 200,000 years.
Since the ceramic filter of the YVE-BIO® filter has a passage of only 0.2 µm and a bacterium is about 1-5 µm in size, no bacteria can enter the lower water container to form colonies.Tap water is always sterilized by the ceramic filter.
Contamination must have taken place by other means. How?During cleaning, through the tap, even through the test lab itself. Many possibilities must be considered.
With the colony count at 36 °C one can detect gram-negative, non-spore forming bacteria species. The detection of an increased colony count at 36 °C does not provide information about specific pathogens, but serves as an indicator for possible microbial contamination of the water supply system after treatment up to the drinking water installation.
Causes can be manifold. From inadequate treatment, pipe bursts, biofilm formation to stagnation of the water in the pipe system or self-contamination.
Exceeding the limit values has no direct health significance, but should not be tolerated permanently. An immediate clarification of the cause is absolutely necessary. The measures to be taken then depend on the causes identified. Intensive flushing or specific disinfection measures can be carried out in the affected pipe areas, for example.
*KBE = Colony forming units
Colony count limit:
- at 22 °C - 100 CFU/ml at the tap (system 3, no. 9 - indicator parameter)
- 20/ml after preparation
- at 36 °C - 100 CFU/ml (system 3, no. 10 - indicator parameters)
The empirical reference value for the colony count of 100/ml goes back to Robert Koch.

"If a filter works satisfactorily in every respect, experience shows that less than 100 viable germs per 1 cm3 are found in filtered water." Robert Koch had made this observation during the cholera epidemic in Hamburg in comparison with other typhoid and cholera epidemics. He stated: Whenever the colony counts were below 100/ml, no epidemic occurred. The term colony count was first defined in a legally binding manner in the Drinking Water Ordinance of 3 January 1975 in the Federal Republic of Germany. The formerly common term "total colony count" is no longer used because it expresses something else. The term "colony count" is intended to make it clear that only bacteria that grow into colonies are included in the calculation and that, in addition, bacteria that may occur in bandages are only included once in the calculation. It is known that colony numbers in water can fluctuate. If this is accompanied by changes in weather conditions, it indicates a lack of filtration capacity of the soil, which can be a cause for concern from the point of view of disease hygiene. Colony numbers may continue to rise suddenly:
- if a pipe bursts,
- when using plastic materials that serve as a source of nutrients for the bacteria,
- after container cleaning (cleaning agents can be used as a source of nutrients),
- for new connections,
- after house connections that have been laid too early (from a hygienic point of view) and are not being used,
- for long service life or
- in case of low acceptance and oversized pipelines. When evaluating the colony count findings, it is therefore assumed today that not only is it necessary to comply with the guideline value of 100/ml in order to maintain a safe water supply, but that every change in the colony count must be subjected to separate consideration.
Standing water from the tap - better not to drink it! And do not use it to clean the filter.
Water that has been standing in the pipes for more than four hours is no longer drinkable! In a test conducted by colleagues from the WDR magazine "Servicezeit", one third of 21 samples were contaminated with nickel and/or bacteria. Bacteria feel particularly comfortable in flexible hoses under the sink or in the shower hose.
